IBINABO FIBERESIMA'S BAIL APPLICATION SUFFERS SETBACK

Nollywood actress and President of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberesima who is currently serving a five year jail term for manslaughter was denied bail today, Wednesday 17th March by the Court of Appeal.
One Victor Eden in a six paragraph affidavit of urgency stated that Fiberesima is currently recovering from a breast tumor-removal surgery and her continued stay in prison will jeopardise her health as she requires medical attention.

The deponent stated further that it will be in the interest of Justice for her to be granted bail pending the hearing and determination of her appeal at the Supreme Court.

However, the three man-panel of judges headed by Justice U.I. Ndukwe-Anyanwu ruled that her bail application was incomplete as she failed to attach her application, copies of the judgement affirming the five-year jail sentence imposed on her by a Lagos High Court.

The application was subsequently struck out and the matter adjourned to April 7 as  Fiberesima's counsel asked for adjournment in order to attach the missing documents for bail application.

Ibinabo's five year jail sentence for manslaughter was recently affirmed by the Court of  Appeal.

Ibinabo Fiberesima was involved in an accident along the Lekki-Epe expressway in 2005 in which one Dr. Giwa Suraj was killed.
